Movie Mondays!

The Kentucky Fried Movie is one of those films you have to see - why? Well, it’s the first film directed by John Landis, before he did Animal House, the Blues Brothers or American Werewolf in London (or directed Michael Jackson’s Thriller video) and it's also one of the first efforts by the Abrahams/Zucker team that would later go on to give us the Naked Gun series and the Airplane movie. Tame maybe by today’s standards, it was so fresh and topical in its day it became a cult classic. It captures TV and movies from the late seventies so well, it manages to be a bit of a relic because of it. Still there is enough slapstick humor here to enjoy and it should probably best be enjoyed as part of a double feature including that other underground comedy of the decade The Groove Tube.

I’m repurposing content by taking my NetFlix reviews and posting them here on the blog. If I could figure out a way to do it, I’d post some kind of link for people to connect and make me their friend on the service. Unfortunately, it isn’t altogether clear how one would do that - so if you know a way, pass it along. In the meantime, I’ve got steady content for at least a year.
